Joburg Workshop on Black Holes and Entanglement

27-31 March 2017

This is the 8th Joburg Workshop on String Theory. It is a continuation of a very successful series of annual workshops that have taken place in South Africa since 2009. The focus of this meeting will be black holes and entanglement.

The workshop has two parts: There is a Ph.D. school where local postgraduate students will be exposed to advanced topics in string theory and related fields. Its aim is to provide the students with the necessary background for them to benefit from the second part of the workshop.

The second part will be a meeting bringing together local and international experts to stimulate discussions and interactions, which might lead to new research directions and collaborations.

International Participants

Mandelstam Institute for Theoretical Physics, School of Physics

The String Group thanks the DST/NRF Centre of Excellence in Mathematical and Statistical Sciences, the Mandelstam Institute for Theoretical Physics, the National Institute for Theoretical Physics, the National Research Foundation, the Simons Foundation, the South African Research Chairs Initiative, the University of Pretoria, and the University of the Witwatersrand for generous funding of the Workshop. We are especially grateful to Ragnie Leahy and Maddalena Teixeira for administrative support.
