About

The aim of the institute is to stimulate and pursue research within theoretical physics. The institute has eleven permanent academic staff members conducting research in mathematical physics, chaos, condensed matter physics, high energy particle physics, quantum field theory, quantum gravity and string theory. The institute provides a healthy and vibrant research environment with active seminar series and visitor programs. The institute is distinct from, but closely allied to the School of Physics, University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa.
